Options. Care. Support.

What We Do

We exist to go beyond the politics of pregnancy to serve women and men facing pregnancy decisions by offering education and resources that empower an informed choice.

Who We Are

We are a nonpolitical, Christian organization with a relational goal: to see those facing a pregnancy decision receive love, care, and support—to one day have a community where no one walks through these decisions alone.

For the past 40 years, the national conversation surrounding pregnancy has been primarily approached through the lens of politics. Pregnancy is no longer viewed as a personal affair to be addressed by individuals, families, and communities. Today, it is a divisive social issue. The focus of care and concern has greatly shifted away from the needs of pregnant women and onto the protection of an agenda and the pursuit of an ideological victory.

We believe that pregnancy must be reclaimed from the political stage and the responsibility of women’s care returned to communities, families, and professional, nonpolitical agencies. The American Medical Association states that:

“The patient’s right of self-decision can be effectively exercised only if the patient possesses enough information to enable an informed choice.”

And because we believe that women are capable of self-decision, we provide information on all three legal options (parenting, abortion, and adoption), in an environment that won’t manipulate them towards a specific outcome, with staff that will love them, in a safe and confidential setting.

We believe that women’s stories don’t end with a pregnancy decision and that only relationship can truly transcend the confusion, complexity, and controversy often surrounding pregnancy. We recognize that the power of simple compassion and love in the midst of a culture that is bursting with tensions and unrest is an oasis to a generation being politically courted and relationally ignored.

All movements start small, but with your support, we believe hope can one day be afforded to every individual facing a pregnancy decision in our region. Today, we each have the opportunity to be the answer to the needs of those facing pregnancy decisions.

It’s communities that change communities. So whatever your role, be the hope in someone’s story.

Our History

Capital Area Pregnancy Centers is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, formed by a group of individuals from the community who had a mutual desire to offer peer counseling and encouragement to women and men facing pregnancy decisions.

In 1985 the first center was opened on the corner of State and 17th Street in Camp Hill. In the first year the executive director along with three peer counselors had the opportunity to meet with 20 individuals.

Since that time CAPC has continued to grow in every capacity. Serving over 1,000 appointments a year, we are committed to creating a safe environment where respect and value for each person are demonstrated by our caring staff and volunteers.

We are grateful for over 150 volunteers and for the many individuals, businesses, and churches in our community who support the efforts of this organization. Because of this support, we can offer our services to anyone, anywhere, and absolutely free.

Our Commitment to You

We are dedicated to providing a warm and safe environment to everyone, regardless of age, race, income, nationality, religious affiliation, or circumstances.

  • You will receive all of our services free of charge.

  • You will be treated with kindness and compassion.

  • Your story will be listened to with respect and courtesy, and without judgment, ridicule, or rejection.

  • All information shared will be held in confidence, except in rare circumstances when prohibited by law.

  • You will receive accurate information about pregnancy, fetal development, and pregnancy options.

The pregnancy center does not provide abortion or referrals for abortion, but we are committed to offering accurate information about abortion procedures and risks. You will receive honest and open answers.

Just walking through the door of the clinic, we both felt a bit relieved. The girls we talked to were supportive, reassuring, and informative without being judgmental or pushy in any way, shape, or form. Most importantly, they listened. I truly felt like they cared about me.
